This Night..

by rob   Aug 24, 2008

The darkness harkens
and the emptiness calls
Now that I know I'm doomed
to walk these lonely halls

Obscured in the distance
by the gathering storm
My visions of hope fade
as my future takes form

The blackness beckons and
the void commands sacrifice
Forever I'm destined to reside
in these deserted lands of respite

The life-force drains more
as each hopeless day ends
I'm beyond shedding tears
and unable to make amends

The sinful calls are becoming
louder and ever more emphatic
How could I have not known
things would end so traumatic

I'm drowning and can't find
my way back to the light
The shadows are encroaching
ordering I join them tonight

Closer they come now, ever
closer the wraiths creep
The only solace from their
arrival is a long blissful sleep

(huge thanks to Grant Gilbert for help on the third stanza! And TJ BECKER for help on the second to the last.. Thanks!)

Hey rob very well written and a poetic poem too, One suggestion though you lost the rhyme slightly in the third Stanza,if you like you might use this , or not its up to you. Its a good poem either way
