If But For A Moment

by Twisted Heart   Feb 3, 2009

If for one more moment
I could look into your eyes
See the faith within the depths
of which there's no disguise
Or feel the warmth of happiness
each time you held me near
Felt the whisper of your breath
as you kissed away each tear
If I could for a moment
wrap up each tender word
The sweetness of each syllable
consonant and verb
Or hear the laughter in your heart
that always brought a smile
A cherished affirmation
that would hold me for awhile
If I could just rewind the clock
when love was all brand new
Like honey on a flower
kissed by the morning dew
Relive each gentle memory
that clouds my troubled mind
No greater pleasure on this earth
I could ever find
But time has dealt a bitter draft
that spun me in the wind
Took those days of happiness
left loneliness to tend
Now distant dreams forever haunt
my mind and then my soul
Leaving nothing in their wake
as heartache takes its toll
And ageless days upon me
find a shell of what I was
Trapped inside and broken...
hurt...
painful...
Loss of love

But...
If for one more moment
I could feel the love we shared
Wrap my arms around you...
Would I dare?

I have missed your poetry so much. This was such a beautiful piece and of course we would dare to feel that way. It brings to mind the saying of you can't know what love is unless you have been hurt. Wonderful Job.
