Shattered

by Twisted Heart   Feb 8, 2009

Shattered
Like pieces of crystal upon a slab of stone
I lay withered in the aftermath
One heart that beats alone
Thumping
Though barely noticed within a single breath
Entombed my soul is yearning
For dusk to bring me rest
Twilight
Now bows before the star glazed bitter moon
Captured in the dismal sky
Relinquished, painful doom
Hurting
Some pain is better if forged and faced alone
Wishing to ease the hurt I feel
For hearts aren't made of stone
Dying
Seems my only course, it beacons me to flee
To wrap myself up in its arms
It tempts me to receive
Longing
Like a child in need I hold on to the reigns
Feeling that the death of me
Will surely ease the pain
Silence
Eyes close upon the world and now it's dark
Leaving all the light behind
In death now lies my heart.

This is very unique pattern or atleast for me. Loved the way you added that extra with single word in between. Loved the whole poem

Wow Jeannie....I love it.....The imagery and the way you used the one word throughout really made that a strong point. Such sadness could be felt from your words.
    Excellent job!
