Bitter Fruit

by silvershoes   Sep 3, 2010

Then your pupils grazed
across my face
vindictive
malevolence conspiring

and i questioned your
tenacity
to inflict harm
in honor of spite

for a sheer moment's
wounded pride
you would be triggered
into vengeance

as if hurting that
which hurt
could bring satisfaction
or peace of mind

but the pleasure you
might gain
puzzles me to an extent
that i slyly grin

then i lean back
hands behind my head
and wait patiently
for what will come

and it does come
bitter as rotted fruit
delivered to me
on a silver platter

This was a strong poem with many diverse emotions going across it. I loved the metaphor in which you used to portray your ideas to the reader. So much sadness and uncertainty in the lines made this poem very interesting.

    Then your pupils grazed
    across my face
    vindictive
    malevolence conspiring

What a strong line! The seeming harm coming from this person is so easily felt as the imagery pulls the reader in and makes it feel like you are that person. Over all good job and keep writing.
