The Perfect Clown.

by Girl of Conviction   Apr 1, 2012

There's this clown,
they have the ability to make you smile never frown.

From the look in their eyes you see happiness,
little do you know that they're a mess.

At a party for little eddie,
the clown seems a little unsteady.

He tells himself, i cant show how im really feeling, keep it together,
as he pulls from his hat a feather.

Giving the feather to little eddie telling him its special and goodluck,
but little eddie just walks away saying "you suck"

As the clown tries to keep his big red smile on his face from fading,
he has to keep the face on hes masquerading.

It starts to pour, it starts to rain,
perfect timing because no one can ever tell your crying [he thinks].

As he leaves the party he sees the feather that eddie refused to take,
which made him feel like in his heart was a big stake.

You see the feather was a gift from his girlfriend, who's life had come to a sudden end, a few months ago.

At the time the clown didnt have his ballons to give to eddie, just the feather,
something that meant so much to him because it was given from Heather.

Eddie didnt know the value of the feather, it hurt the clown because to him that was a precious gift from someone he loved so much and would never see again.

He performs as a clown to hide the hurt feelings,
and not have to face the hurtful reality.

As he gets ready for his next party he sets the feather right next to heathers picture, trying hard not to let the memories over take him as his eyes fill with tears.

He shakes it off puts on his fake smile hides all the tears and sadness, because yes he is the perfect clown.

So many smiles, on so many faces, all painted on various places. A smile for you, a tear for me, tears from sadness, tears from glee. Look at all the smiling faces.
This poem inspires me. Thanks for bringing out the clowns inside us all.

I love your word choice in this poem and the topic, sometimes we all wish we could be a clown to hide the pain, a fake smile permanently on our face.

I really loved this poem great work

"From the look in their eyes you see happiness,

    Their should be "they're"

I think there is a "clown" in all of us.. Whenever we try to hide our real feelings.

    Excellent piece 5/5 :)
