I am an african child

by Skhumbuzo   Sep 20, 2012

I am an african child not because i was born in africa
but because my roots are in africa.
africa the proud land of our fore-fathers.
land of freedom.
land of great revolutionaries.
land heroes and heroines.
land of natural beauty.
i am the brother of the sister of the soil of africa.
i am the generation of the heroes and heroines.
i am of a nation that lives with the spirit of intrepid.
i am a tree that is planted by
the abundant rivers of africa,
that yields its fruits in the expected season.

i am an african child.
teach me to think like an african.
teach me to think like a hero.
teach me discipline.
i am an african child born with a skin,
the colour of a beautiful butterfly.
in the midst of despair,
i will celeprate hope like the dragon-fly
in dirty lakes.
i am an african child.
i am the grand child of the worrier men,
stick fighters and hunters.

i am an african child.
i detest merciless, diabolic genicide,
our native land has ever-seen.
i dream a dream of africa,
a dream of peace and humanity,
in the hearts of her children.
i hunt with khoi-san and i am nomadic.
i run with springboks in the burren areas.
i fly with blue crane in the karoo.

i am an african child.
african blood flows through my arteries for eternity.
african pride is what i live for.
when the warmth of the sun touches my face,
i see the smile of african heroes and heroines,
because their blood naurished,
the trees of freedom and ancient wisdom.
i sing the song of anthem
when i commemorate
the days of abolition.
god bless africa.
i am an african child.
