Solitary Confinement

by Stephen   Feb 23, 2013

Impale my happiness with your foolishness.
Degrade my intelligence with your stupidity.

(Why do I continue to lend you attention?)

You're cancerous and attempt to destroy
all I've been continually slaving to build.
Quickly you'll express how you've changed
but actions speak the words language cannot.
Your actions convey contentment with
the transformation of your life into catastrophe.

Once consistently blanketing people
with the warmth and care of love,
as if you were the sun in the lives of many,
you've become the thunderstorm
stealing the warmth and care you once offered
due to your own calamity.

I do not enjoy welcomed misery,
please relish in that moment on your own.
At times I'm solitary, yet you want from me;
the person with empty offerings.

Frail and fragile, yet agile enough to evade
the barrage of negativity heaved towards me;
knowing the slightest impact may leave
my heart swollen with pain resulting
in a plummet into an abyss that will
diminish the fire within my heart.

It's me or it's you..
So to save myself,
I'll keep you as memories
while I thrive in solitary confinement.

    Seems like this person wants the opposite of what you give this someone.

    "At times I'm solitary, yet you want from me;
    the person with empty offerings."

    ^ you are offering your whole attention to her?
    and she doesn't not like it??

    or she does not like commitment? as it seems she is the sun who gives life to many... so can't settle for one?

    so instead of you burning you decide to live that sun and be in solitary confinement.

    I think i got it not right, but I enjoyed the read and the metaphors you used. The way you compared this someone, I had to assumed it was about a she.
