Lingering Embrace

by Jenni Marie   Nov 17, 2013

I greeted dawn with a smile as
eyelids fluttered open, still inhaling
your aroma that had encircled my
unconscious mind as your startling
aqua eyes fixated upon mine,
as your lingering embrace faded
the smile didn't falter as I knew that
soon it would be reality, soon I'd be nestled
in your arms, protected, content...happy...

{and where I was always meant to be}

Never one to believe in love at first
sight or soul-mates, always believing
people existed only to hurt one another
and then, then I met you and knew that
I was falling deep with no escape route.

Only this time, it was different because
I didn't want an escape plan and I was
happy to lay my heart into your gentle
and caring hands knowing that I made
the right decision...and so as sleep faded,
taking with it the last remnants of your
image, I knew it didn't matter,

{Because I'll always
find my way back
to you...back to
where I belong.}
