Dying flame (one last tear)

by Dancing Rivers   Nov 23, 2014

Life is a furnace of memories,
as each day passes by,
the flames grow in great flurries,
but one day they fade and die.

Your life was a furnace,
a guy Fawkes of my heart,
in my memories I see your faces
all the lives torn apart.

Death, you have won
death you prevail
death I'm undone
death,see my face pale.

This flame has died
it joins the other
dozen corpses that lie
buried six feet under

Goodbye my dear
let me shed one last tear

This is brilliant - I love the sudden rapidity of the 3rd stanza. Wonderful use of metaphors throughout - one of the best from you that I've read
