Scattered

by silvershoes   Jun 1, 2015

Like cabernet spilling from my lips,
a sour blend of vinegarish red,
you should not have been uncorked.
More pure behind green glass, you,
when neither of us knew the taste.

Like a semi-colon holding fragments in suspension;
two ideas spent together,
molded by one broken, imbalanced line,
we should have been written onto sides of a page,
juxtaposed by ink of crude quills.

Like Icarus' wings as they touched the sun
and splashed waves of molten rays,
would you have been satisfied on earthen land
where terrestrial beasts wage their wars?

Would you have wanted to drown?

    I really like the images. It speaks of a relationship that isn't living in a relationship/or the other is just taking it for granted. Without knowing, understanding two people have gone into a relationship just to realize there isn't anything after all...or maybe it just takes time or need to be tested.

    That is what I'm getting from this read...there is a tinge of sadness behind this write too..Congrats on the win!
