A Gift From God

I knew there was something special
On that November afternoon
The very first time I laid my eyes upon you

I was so touched, by the look in your eye.
I said to myself
I want a piece of that.

I knew God put you in my life,
And I knew if I wanted you
I would have to learn to fight
For you tonight.

God gave me you, not to own or abuse.
But as a gift, a loan if you choose.

I have but one chance
To show you life.
And this first time,
I had better get it right.

For I know that we are here,
But just a short time,
And I promise you now,
I’ll always be by your side.

My dear no matter what it is
We will work at it together.
Because my love for you will last forever.

You have given me the will to live
