What is love?

by Beautiful Tragedy   Dec 9, 2016

Though many of us have claimed
to "love" someone
in which we are most affectionate about;
Are we REALLY in love with them,
Or do we only love with the idea of being in love with them?
Us humans have this sick obsession with wanting to fall in love so badly;
To the point where we continuously search for the one who
We will forever spend eternity with.
But this only makes me stress the utmost importance
Of the same question nobody has ever been able to answer..
"What is love?"
To which most try to say "it's a strong affection for someone you really care about."
Uhm... not exactly.
See, there are very few out of many who have ever actually experienced what us mortals like to call "love"
Those who have;
They still have no way to explain it,
Because there is only one answer to the question;
Love has no reason; therefore it is unexplainable.
The answer of course; has been so obvious all along-
"Hiding in plain sight" as some would say.
The definition of "love" is exactly what it felt like to be as
Clueless as you were five minutes ago on this subject.
Loving someone is only explainable by saying what you feel;
And even that's a stretch.
But to actually be IN love with someone;
The answer is the exact reason it has never been figured it out;
It's unexplainable.
There's no way to perfectly describe what true love is;
Let alone ever possibly come to telling someone what it feels like.
What if it feels different for someone else?
Nobody has ever been able to explain love;
For you can't explain the unexplainable.
(See what I did there?)
I thought so.
So if you "love" her because she is sweet,
Then you only enjoy the fact that she is sweet.
If you "love" him because he can make you smile;
Then you don't love him.
You feel strong enjoyment over the fact that he makes you smile.
If you "love" her because she understands you,
Then you only enjoy how she makes you feel like you're not alone
Because she understands you.
If you "love" him because he appreciates you;
Then you are thankful for him; you do not love him.
Not only is it impossible to explain what being in love is;
It's impossible to explain WHY you are in love with that person.
Take a look at our world;
We thrive off of reasoning;
We search for answers to everything,
Because we feel the insatiable need to understand everything;
Never resting until we feel
That we know every little thing there is to know
About the world we live in.
About ourselves.
Which brings me to my next point:
We fear what we do not understand.
That is why those of us who are not hopeless romantics-
It's why we are so afraid to consider the possibility that love- whatever it is-
Exists.
We are trying to take God's role in this- whatever THIS is.
Life?
World?
Universe?
The point is-
We have failed to actually live the way we were meant to-
Because we have become a selfish species-
One who wants to be in control of everything.
Wake up people.
Don't you find it ironic how the same word god used to describe why he laid his sons life down for us is the same word we have never been unable to explain?
Like God himself;
His true word cannot be explained rationally;
But rather must be believed in by taking a leap of faith...

    Hi. I like what you've done here.

    Love is a 'feeling' that makes us want (to differing degrees) another to feel/acheive a positive outcome, like the one's we've experienced or are experiencing. It's about sharing and being free...
    ^
    As vague as this description is, it's like faith... like finding beauty in a sunrise or a full moon. Once you find the ability of deep appreciation, one finds love and faith is everywhere and in everyone. Once we unlock the door, the world of love is available, achievable and...

    anyones.

    Faith is the key to unlock ones mind, releasing it from the confines of doubt and negativity. Why wallow when there's always tomorrow? Faith is a penny picked up and given to: a stream, a beggar, an idea that it can make a difference; something so seemingly insignificant can change: the wind, a tide, a frown to a smile. Faith/ love can offer light to a life, to a billion lives. It can help you believe anything is possible, even help you believe that boy's smile is like that penny, so go on...

    pick it up. :)
