Anima Angel

by Larry Chamberlin   Dec 14, 2016

I speak to you in ancient words
Straight from my heart, nay
much more visceral than that
I speak from the depths of my guts
when I tell you that my life began
when first you smiled to me.

True, It was an awakening to agony
knowing you walked so angelically
and yet could not grace my side.
Did I move heaven and earth?
I moved the Cosmos itself
to become your paragon.

The decades we have since traversed
children in tow, yours and mine,
sheltering within this nest we built,
have seen no lessening of my ardor
for you continue to sing sweetly
salving the sting of cross lyrics.

Despite harshest disagreements
that even heavenly creatures
cannot avoid on this plane
we still laugh and dance to our tune
played on violins unheard by any but us
perfectly out of step with everyone
except each other

Larry, this is just lovely! So much adoration for your love. "Perfectly out of step with everyone except each other." I just loved this line, that's all that matters. So beautiful-
