Leonberger or a Big Mac?

by Mr. Darcy   Feb 4, 2017

. . . and so it happened,

a newest family member

had arrived.

.

It had taken,

Seven long hours,

but to see

the smiles on those faces

will imprint forever

on his heart.

.

but now, alas,

the hard work

really starts!

.

Well, Mr D it seems as though I have missed this and I will apologise now for my ignorance but I know you know I had abit of time away form the confinements of my happy place (P&Q) but shh don't tell anyone as I am back to being part of the furniture for a little longer or until I am no longer needed here. *looks around to see if anyone's watching* haha

Title - I had to laugh at this as I assume you were talking about Bens new puppy and to be honest if this was a real question I would have to think long and hard as I have always wanted a dog of my own but a big mac is something I haven't had in well over a year lol... Tell you what I you buy me a puppy (whilst I'm a year older) and I will but you a drink haha :) oh, I also love the breaks in this as it makes you stop and think before you carry on which I think may have been your intention.

1/ On first opening this I admit I assumed it was about a new arrival as in the baby kind and was about to congratulate you (lol) then read Bens and Brenda's comments and thought my goodness especially with the breed of dog though they are adorable puppies and I guess it could be taken both ways if the title was different though I am not suggesting you change it.

2/ That drive must have been a long slog and I am sometimes glad that I never usually drive long distances because all I can think of is a sore bum lol. Anyway, I do believe any kind of new arrival baby or puppy will bring happiness to little children's faces, a big high five for Dad and a be a memory never forgotten.

3/ Yes, the hard work does start here (if I correct in my assumption of what the poem was about) right here, right now because I believe puppies and kittens are much more hard work than kids as they do their business everywhere and need training etc and some even wan in the night and kids well, they do pretty much the same but I guess they can't move much until 6 months oldish so I think they have their work cut out but it will be a job well done.

    Take care,
    Em

I loved this! So very true, the hard work does really start!
As ususal with your writing, great imagery can be found in your few words, but ones that always paints a very clear and consise picture. Was a pleasure to read, as all your work is.

As you will most probably know that we have to take the rough with the smooth and I guess if the kids are happy it makes you happier just to see their little faces but like everything else it won't be plain sailing.

Michael, I absolutely loved this. After You-tubing this breed I was like "Wo, now that's a dog!" Ben has his work cut out for him, lol. Well done-

    Michael,

I was thoroughly enjoying this piece until the end - you simply couldn't help yourself, could you?

There is no doubt that the kids' pleasure is lovely to see but (unfortunately) I have to concede the hard work really has begun! She's like a whirlwind through the house...a fact I can only hope changes when she reaches maturity, lol

Thank you, Michael. Lovely to read,

    Ben
