And yeah he did break my nose, he bounced up as I bent down to pick up his ball. Hard hairy head and nose combo was not a good one.

Whoa slow down lovely the big old wolf ain't gone yet, he's still very much alive and kicking. Well more plodding but my baby boy is still a wonderful homecoming x

I wrote this live in members forum without edit so apologises if I gave the impression I lost him.

I ain't but he is as deaf as a post.

Oh no, sorry! I sure have misinterpreted the last line, you still bury your face into his neck right? Awww...so sorry baby boy...

Our family had a dalmatian before but after we lost her I have completely distanced myself from dogs

Yeah I still do that as he wines sometimes, sometimes I don't speak I just make a low guttural noise on his neck behind his ear.

      It seems to sooth him.

He's supposed to be a collie lab cross breed, but I think they lied to us when we bought him, he's a bloody black wolf lol

      Ps.

I lost my old girl (the aptly named pooch) a couple of years ago. I said the same. I would not get another. However I now have pooch II, yeah not an original name but figured I'd the Simpson's can have snowball one, two and three. Well why not.

Dogs ain't pets they are totally a part of the family.

They are! We had a japanese pitch after her but I did not care too much for the new girl, hehe. My grandma loved her though.

When my son was feeling a bit down the dogs past and present would sit with him.

They are so receptive to emotion. God they would do the same with me. Or wait till I'm asleep and use me as a cushion.

I would wake up with numb legs thinking "hang on whose in charge here" lol

Had a feeling this was about your pet...dogs are love-able loyal and they
don't turn away and the only sane "person" who will sit and hear our rants without
    interruptions. I miss mine...take care
