This poem was promoted by a dear friend after an unusual conversation. So I write bit this to give credit for the inspiration.

"If you build a boat and eventually have to repair it plank by plank, is it still the same boat? "

My answer was yes.' The structure of the vessel remains the same. You're just fixing the damage (or hurt).

"Then what about people" "skin cells die every second only to be replaced by new ones, are we still the same person?"

    Again yes.

Yes, because we are not dead, our core remains intact. We have not been cut down. Felled sometimes perhaps, but still alive

    And like the tree
If it does not kill us we will heal.

Love this! And I love your explanation of the inspiration for it. Fantastic analogies and thought provoking too. The last bit was a perfect ending ... if you're not dead you'll heal .. what doesn't kill you makes you stronger etc.
It reminds me of another tree analogy I've read ... "you're not a tree. If you're not happy where you are - move."
So well written and added to my faves :-)

This is gorgeous. I love the comparison of us and mother nature. And that last line is truly beautiful.

Man versus nature, natures' actions verses man's greed perhaps..?
Either way it does carry a very important message and it can be viewed
from different points. Once again nicely penned!

We have started this battle of nature vs us. These days nature is winning almost every battle.

    Nice thought, Craig.
    Well penned too.

Good to see such great poems this week.

And it is the way it should be!

Without a tree, without a bee, a flower or a bloom. No cross pollination.

Then man kind will be doomed.

The world would tick away quite nicely without the interference of man.

      Regards
