A Family Heartbreak

by Sherry Lynn   Jul 10, 2004

Such a young man, a daddy of four, yet he was carried out the door.
He was only twenty-two, on that dreadful day. At least it wasn't the
coroner who took him away. The kids were there, they saw it all.
In their eyes, daddy was God. They don't understand,
they can't comprehend, why this has happened to them.
First mommy left, and she never called. Now daddy's gone,
and these babies are lost. It was the police who took their daddy
away. And now the pain these babies have to face. Mommy came back,
but it wasn't the same. This time she took them with her when she ran
away. Daddy's locked up, the babies are gone, yet no one knows what
went wrong. Daddy's okay he is off the drugs, and now he goes to
prison for sixty months. Mommy on the other hand is still very sick,
and her new boyfriend was daddy's best friend. The babies can't
call cause they're too young. Worst of all, they still live with
the drugs. One parent is saved, one parent is sick, and the babies in
the middle just got lost. Some lost a brother, some lost a son, and
Some lost a daughter who went on the run. All of this because of
drugs.

I liked this poem. :) I'm sorry on what you went through, but I'm happy for the reason that it's over.(?)
This conveys emotion very much so, but it should. :) Keep writing, you're really very good! :)
