It never occurred to me that they're the only mammals that can't jump! I love elephants and agree with every word. Have you read 'Leaving Time' by Jodi Picoult? Elephant themed and a great read!

A lovely piece of formed poetry dedicated from one tranquil and caring soul to another. Ben and Rania did an amazing job too with the contests. These little, innovative contests are healthy for pnq.

Brenda, there is something wise about elephants, especially the matriarch. Keeping the heard/ her family safe from those pesky cats.
    Nicely penned. X

Well done on the competition win. There is something very majestic about elephants and they really take care of their young. I had no idea that they couldn't jump. I guess they don't need to. Great little haiku. Milly x

Wow Brenda, a four syllable word! Indeed, elephant's can't jump, they have great memories, love and care for their kids, unlike some human kind!
Love it, added to my Favorites.

I always love when I learn something in poems, and I did not know that elephants were lead by women elephants. I think that is an interesting thing. I love the title because it gives the reader an idea of what the poem will be about, and you simply buy you love elephants, so in my mind it will be about the way elephants are.

I love all the facts you have posted here, and a lot of people might not say that facts are love, but I think it works here. Because in the end a haiku is supposed to be about nature. The elephant lives in nature. So it's a match.

They are really caring souls and loving. I don't think any other animal really hurt someone. And I have seen a lot of pictures of elephants crying when they lose their young and baby elephants crying when they lose their mother. A lot of people say animals don't have feelings but it's sad to say they, because it's possible that animals feel more than humans do.

Anyway I really enjoyed this writing.
