Lesson Learned

by Guilty By Design   Sep 20, 2025

I poured my heart out.
All of it. Every last drop.
& what did I get?
“I don’t know what you want me to say.”
Or worse, that hollow, half-dead, “okay.”
That is not an answer.
That is a wall.
That is a lock clicking shut.
& it teaches you quick:
Don’t speak.
Don’t risk.
Don’t hand your soul to someone
who can’t even hold it for five seconds.
Because nothing hurts worse
than being vulnerable
and realizing your emotions
never even mattered.
I gave you thunder.
You called it noise.
I gave you fire.
You shrugged at the smoke.
I gave you the wound.
You gave me a bandaid
still in the paper wrapper.
So now I know, without a doubt.
Silence feels safer.
Walls feel warmer.
Never again will I hand diamonds
to hands that treat them like dust.
