Defunct

by Rin   Jan 28, 2026

The cursor blinks
Incessantly

Why did I search for you
Desperately

Ties severed
With rusted dinner knives
Ropes burned
No longer tethered

That smile
Lined the night sky in my dreams
With brilliant light
Brighter than stars, I could finally see
We both looked out for miles

The cursor blinks
Mockingly

Your presence leers
in the caverns of my mind
Hauntingly

Those eyes
Embraced me long before your arms would
With a strong hold
Warmer than the first blanket in autumn
We were safe —
Well— you were safe
I was bold

The cursor blinks
And I’ve had enough
I finally close the page
Screen fades to black
Just like that, like us,
It is now defunct
