Supposed To

I wonder if I’m supposed to die,
but something keeps stopping me.

Maybe I was supposed to swallow those pills
after I finished that final goodbye letter.
Maybe I was supposed to slit my entire wrist that day,
instead of just one vein.
And, perhaps I was supposed to die
last night,
with that belt around my neck
in the dancing candle lit shadows.
