I Burned That Memory

by Dionysus   Jul 11, 2005

I walked that day
What seemed forever
Holding in my mind
The thoughts of us
And days of thunder
Leading up to that time

Was not with fire
That I did burn
That memory of us
But with my soul
And with my heart
Like handprint in cement

I wanted to retain
The reasons for that walk
With everlasting ink
Upon my memory
So this day would never come

So if you think
That I still care
To some degree you’re right
But all I do
Is search my mind
Those times it was not right

For in my mind
In some dark corner
Ingrained in spark of light

I know the why
And know the reason
I should not be here tonight
