Life or the knife...

Life or the knife...

You hear sounds that disturb,
The sounds of screams, that are unheard.
In her mind and in her heart,
She hears those sounds, right from the start.
The silence follows those loud screams.
This scene repeats in her dreams.
The night this girl self-abused,
And then she was left so confused.
Because of those weaknesses she has never forgotten.
But in the end her life turned out rotten.
Left alone in such a big world,
Left with nothing, she was just a little girl.
She grew up, and lived her life.
She had no choice; it was life or the knife.
She was a good girl although very silent,
All because her life was so violent.
She worked hard and studied well,
She stayed on task and always did swell.
The past was gone, the present begun,
The future awaited, she was left as no-one.
Time has changed, and her life has not mended,
And she will never forget the times her life nearly ended.
Things change, although not a lot,
Lucky for some, but the rest just have to rot.
