You didn't put up a fight

I can't trust,
even though i must,
i wish to live without fear,
but there is still a tear,

I want to run,
even have some fun,
i need to open my eyes,
but never say my goodbyes,

I wonder what would happen if one day,
i really did go away,
i wonder what you'd do,
if i never came back to you,

I have been disappointed to many times before,
but i have never felt or lost a tear for,
i know you never meant to hurt me,
i guess it just wasn't meant to be,

I thought that things were good enough to last,
but these things just kept popping up from my past,
i wondered if it was a sign to say,
it was over on this very day,

All the signs read that i didn't want you,
and i guess that was true,
because you didn't put up a fight,
when i turned out the light.
