Opal my opal
My very best friend
I wrote this poem for you
And I mean it till the end

I remember when we met
A long time ago
You had a crush on me
But I didnâ??t know

I wasnâ??t interested
in your kind back then
The girl ting was new to me
Except for Barbie and Ken

You were a blossoming flower
And I was a young boy
You knew how to be with a guy
But all I could do was annoy

Then eventually you got over me
As a smart girl would
But the problem was that I let you go
As no guy ever should

In the summer of that year
We talked almost every day
You had some problems
And I eventually made them go away

I fell in love with you
the year of seventh grade
You told me it was a childish crush
And that it would quickly fade.

I became sad
And nearly depressed
The thought that I once had you
And you know the restâ?¦

So we stayed friends
All the way through middle school
We had some good times
And others where I acted like a fool

So we made it to high school
Where we are today
And we still have our friendship
I can honestly say

But something you need to know
Thatâ??s been true from the start
I love you opal
With all of my heart
