Running From The Rain

by Ashleigh Skye   Oct 29, 2006

I remember when the rain was special,
when it made me feel at ease,
relaxed and soothed under it's powerful force,
my hair dancing in the breeze.

I remember when each droplet,
carried with it the power to renew,
to lift every burden off my chest,
show my eyes a different point of view.

But now each drop is different,
as it falls like a dagger from the sky,
piercing my tender skin below,
drowning out my mournful cries.

Eating away at my flesh,
it consumes be drop by drop,
bringing waves of sorrow and misery,
from a storm that rages non stop.

Drowning in all the puddles,
as I attempt to avoid the mess,
trapped beneath the rain clouds,
leaving me weak and powerless.

Running from the charcoal clouds,
as they taint the once blue-sky,
unable to feel freedom in what falls to earth,
as my soul and the clouds start to cry.

Other than a reminder to make sure to always look over your poem a second time and correct any mistakes, excellent job. I love the rain and enjoyed the way you portrayed it! 5/5
