The Truth

by Kali   Apr 19, 2007

People pass right on by
Some give me a heartbreaking look
Their stories shine bright in their eyes
I can read them like an open book

I can tell their laugh is fake
I can see their smile is painted on
They all pretend to be someone theyre not
They are all weak, but continue to act strong.

They say they know whats in my soul
They claim that they know what my heart craves
They say they know my every desire, my every wish
But all they really know is how to point out my mistakes

Those lips that once gave me the truth
Are now only speaking the hurtful lies that kill
Their innocence was the reason I kept moving along
But now, I find myself standing ever so still

Writing these words made me see
How life has changed, how much I have grown
Speak the words that make you feel superior, that make you feel tall
Claim that your heart is warm, when you know its cold
