I stare out the window,
waiting for you to appear from around the corner.
Im being foolish.
I know youre not coming home.
Its been almost six years since that tragic day.
It was September 11th 2001.
No, you werent in the Twin Towers
You werent even in New York.
You were sitting in your hospital bed, fragile and lonely,
waiting for your time to come,
hoping the pain would soon end.
Then, you were hurting so much,
and God knew it was your time to sprout wings and no longer feel the excruciating pain.
You became one of the beautiful angels.
I still ask why he took you, but then Im thankful that you are no longer suffering.
You can open your eyes now, and see the heavens above.
Don't worry Nanny, well meet again when its my turn to sprout those beautiful wings and fly away. <3
