In All Respect Mr. Ledger, I Won't Try & Remember You.

by Unknown   Jan 23, 2008

Heath Ledger has just died. People are paying their respects, 'R.I.P.' is written across every name on M.S.N. and every bulletin on Myspace. These chain letters of respect, they label me as heartless if I don't send the bulletin on.

It is because of those that I write this.
I refuse to show my respects to a person I've never met more so than any other person.

Yes, he seemed like a good person. And yes, he was a good actor. Yes, he has left behind a daughter and a sad story.

But what reason do we have to show our respects?
Because the story saddens us? Because he left behind a daughter? Because we feel a connection with him merely because we saw all of his movies and looked at a poster of him before we went to sleep?

People will read this and think I have no respect for human life and think that death is no reason to reminisce and show respect for the person. These people are wrong.
People may say I don't have a heart, but they don't have a brain.

Young children in Africa die every few seconds due to poor health. Heath was 28, much older than these children. Heath had a chance to live, and even though it's sad that his life was brought to an end, these children weren't even given a start.

People die every day, and nobody notices. Why show more respect for an individual you don't know than for millions of children, mothers and fathers whose sorry lives have been given sorry ends?

People say they can't do anything but give their respects.
Give money to the starving children in Africa.
Give them hope, and education and a life.

That's more than you could ever give to Heath.

I respect what you are trying to say, but its not your place to tell people thay are wrong for respecting someone just because of children in africa.. thats only your opinion...People are giving respect for the thing he did and gave...if your upset over the children dying in Africa, then maybe you need to say something to the rich people over there filming them, because thay dont seem to be morning their deaths either even though their right there with them...maybe you need to think more next time before you right a comment just because its the way YOU feel,
And ill sighn off instead of being ENONNOMOUS
    Sinserly,

Would it not have been more appropriate, given your feelings in the matter, to just not say a word? I respect what you're saying, however, paying ones respects is an act of love, friendship and/or kindness that means the world to those left mourning.
