A Rose With Thorns As It's Thumb.

by Teria   Jan 30, 2008

Miraculous discoveries lead to one thing,
a number undefined, completely lingering.
Though time has no toll on this heart of mine,
I seem to have found a way to make a penny out of a dime.

Searching for my name upon every cereal box,
and stealing from the big bears just as Goldy locks.
I'm fighting a battle, I don't think I can win - -
for, I'm covered in blood and my biggest sin.

Charming words of refugee burning at my mind,
creative phrases of love gone by is something I can't find.
Cherished memories with a heart so full and plump,
It seems there's eyelids bound to shut in front - -

But, beware of what's behind you, lingering. . .
for, miraculous discoveries lead to one thing.
A rose with thorns as it's thumb rescuing each breath,
and thoughts of suicidal minds finishing what's left.

It's interesting. Not really something I'm into but I do like the imagery. Pretty sharp in parts especially by using "penny out of a dime", "every cereal box", and such little snippets. I even liked the allusion to Goldilocks. It grants a better depth. Flows rather well though it goes from one concept to another yet maintains a certain sameness to it. Fourth line...it seems a bit off-ish to me. Not sure how. But still this piece kept my attention.
