School Year's End

by Broken Inside   May 19, 2004

As the last school bus parts,

Feelings of emptiness spread through some hearts.

Most anticipated the ending of school,

Just waiting to jump into the nearest pool.

For others, that wasn’t the case.

Some had looks of sadness on their face.

The day had finally arrived,

The day everyone looked forward to since the first day of school,

As papers flew in the halls,

And teachers breathed sighs of relief,

Friends parted for the summer,

With a hint of grief.

No, school wasn’t the fun part,

But the memories inside,

Hidden beneath tear stained eyes.

With the final bell,

The school year ends,

Sending shrieks of joy around the place.

And as the busses and cars pull away,

They shut the doors and end the day.
