Works of art hanging in my mind

by Darren   Aug 13, 2014

Who decided that when I laugh,
tears should drip from my tongue?
What is the real message of the blood
seeping cautiously from my eyes?
When will I learn that love is not the enemy
and the voice is the real threat?
Where will I rest my head,
when it is too light to obey the laws of gravity?
Why do my ears only have eyes
for the guardian of my tormented soul?

Such simple questions,
yet the answers cannot be found.
If I was able to walk into my mind,
would I stop and ponder long enough
to feel the thought processes
and see the works of art?

Or would I continue blind
in the knowledge that it easier to love others,
but so much more difficult to truly be in love
with yourself.

To me, questions in poetry are great to use as they keep the reader interested. And try to answer the questions and think about their own lives. Why do we have eyes for depression when we feel it? That is a good question. It takes away our ability to live our own lives. Or even love the ones we do. Loving others is definitely easier because he can "hide" it. No one really knows how we truly feel inside. That's why it is so much more difficult to live ourselves. Because we know. We know the feelings. You could say the simpler things in life are "artwork" like loving your wife or child. But at the same time its hard to see when it's black and white. Thats why I loved the use of "blind" we are blinded by the sadness that pervades us.
