Breaking News

by Baby Rainbow   Oct 29, 2014

Your tone trembles
as words stagger
from your tongue
and approach my ears
with an uncertain chill.

Silence fills the bitter air
while the news sinks in my heart
like a blunt needle.

I feel my body
gliding through space,
pretending not to know
the unfortunate fate
of my life after these
devastating words.

But I land with a thud
on the jagged edge of the truth,
and I finally hear your words...

"he is gone."

No one really wants to hear the words of someone being gone, I liked the description you used though, it's like you are saying "excuse me" because you couldn't believe what you just heard. The news strikes your heart hard and that's when your heart feels it but you are in shock and don't realize or don't want to hear what happened. I like the space line as well, I compare it to no one knowing how you feel inside just like no one can hear you from space. I'm glad you are able to get all of this out, great write
