Heaven Forbid

by Jordyn Grobleben   Jan 9, 2017

Everyone says they know the real me,
Tell us another joke...
"You're white you have it easy."

But it's all a hoax.
They hear my jokes and laugh real hard,
But do they know that they are barred?
But do they know about the scars?

Do they hear my screams,
Because all I can hear are the schemes,
The themes,
The dreams,
The esteems.
I'm not crazy.

So, I lock away to understand my perpetual bay. See,
Because heaven forbid
That they know the silence that I hid
The darkness that stirs,
It holds me tight; I'm trying to fight.

But they will argue...
Have an excuse...
"I only know what you want me too"

But truth being
You only understand what you choose to understand.

So don't you say that you can relate,
Just awake from your delusions.
You only choose to understand,
Those that quicksand you.

Because heaven forbid
Anything is about anyone else.
Heaven forbid that you listen, that you care.
Heaven forbid that I...
Have feelings of my own.
