Your article is interesting. slightly helpful... slightly off in some places but i'm guessing most of it is an opinion piece anyways

When you've a writer's block...

1) Compensate by reading quality stuff (which so doesn't include poets from this site)

2) Try to get inspired by anything and everything around you...keep a diary and note down anyline that arrests your fancy.....come back to it whenever you're in the mood and keep running it in your mind. Try to improve upon it and try to proceed with it.

3) Keep writing whatever interests you...If it sucks, burn it. But just stay in practice...

Good article, I agree with the most things you wrote. I (unfortunately) have a periodical writers- block... :[ At least I recognized my case :].

Nicely written- though your ways of dealing with writer block are off for some people

I took the advice of a friend and I read both articles even though it may seem boring at times. However it is the more in depth reading and reflection and understanding that bring knowledge and enlightment. That's what my friend told me and after reading both of your articles Stephen I feel enriched knowing what I now know. Your article was very informative on how to deal with writers block and using past experience to write it. I also had writers block and it was during the winter. Inactivity is a prime cause of writers block and when it's cold out you prefer to stay in. To wrap it up thank you for writing this article it was very well written.

I think it is lyk sooooo true i mean i am in a writers blok at the moment and i have been in one 4 a couple of months. It is really annoying because since i write love poems the only things I can think of are 'I am a rose' I hit my head sometimes because I think I have turned dumb but my friend kate said that she has been through 1 aswell and she said that it isnt very long. Since I have stopped writing poetry and spending hours and hours on the piano my writers blok is fading and im soo happy of dat.
I have already started writing more poetry and it feels great to be outside that blok!!!!

Thank you.

very much.

I think this article is very good and really quite true. writers block (when you use writing to "vent") is a writer's nightmare. the only thing i would disagree with (and it's probably only me) is that i think that reading lots of others people's work help and writing everyday helps too. even jotting down keywords such as "hard" just to express how you feel and release it onto paper (or type).

Firstly, DO read other peoples poetry! It can help! Second, writers block is not ONLY caused by depression, a lot of people can only write when they are depressed, as a vent...some people can't write when they are happy! Lots of things cause writers block, it is usually emotion though, emotion or lack of practice. Thirdly...article thief! Lol. And fourth, good article. Its very informative and provides a lot of helpful suggestions.

This sounds alittle over dramatic. Writters block isn't a disease. Chill. It happens to anyone who writes a lot and when it happens will they recover?!? Of corse, they will "recover". The artical sounded crazy. Anyways, your Do's and Dont's were good but, the introduction was kind of odd.

I have had writers block for a year now and have just posted my first poem today. i wrote a book not long ago but it became tedeous, the best solution for me is to stay away from all poems and books, because my head seems to get filled with iedas i cant write down!!!
