Uncovered

by Rusheena   Apr 6, 2014

Underneath this veil lies a lifetime of silence,
covered by man-made fabric
with uneven threads in every stitch.
The more I try gasp for air,
the more it smothers and suffocates,
rendering me helpless in
"the land of equal opportunity."
I am branded by this white cloth
that will hide my secrets forever,
which I have buried under the sea
with the casualties of tradition.
But somehow, some way,
this will all be over soon;
one day, all black and white
will fade from existence.
While blinding shades of gray
hatred and fear continue to engulf the world,
Yet, I will stand the test of time
and stop it with my own hands.
I will repaint the skies and oceans.
I will, one day, tear the veil
that has stolen years from me.
Today my destiny awaits me.
Tomorrow my destiny will be fulfilled.
I am coming uncovered...
