A Poem Just For You

by Cody   Apr 7, 2008

I want to write
A poem just for You
Sometimes I don't thank You
enough, for all that You do
You have always been there
Everytime I rise or fall
You've guided me through life
And always answered when I'd call
You cleared away the fog
Only when Your timing was right
So I could learn from life
And come into Your light
You never left my side
Even when I cursed Your name
You showed me Your love
And You wiped away my shame
You loved me, even when
I couldn't love myself
When hope was to high to reach
You lifted me up to the shelf

Thank You for all the blessings,
The gifts along the way;
Thank You for the ones I love,
The people that brighten my day;
Thank You for Your forgiveness,
For allowing me to make mistakes;
Thank You for believing in me,
Telling me I have what it takes;
Thank You for guiding me,
For the path You have laid down;
Thank You for loving me,
And sharing Your crown;

I know that I can't
Ever repay Your grace
But y living through You
In this 'destined' place
Be an example for You
And Your Heavenly Kingdom
And amidst the many lost souls
that roam, I may save some
And for my reward
For leading by Your guiding hand
Is to eternally Worship You
In Your perfect land
And there could be
No better joy in me
Than to be with my Maker
And forever declare my love to thee

*** This one is still in the revising process. The beginning is strong, yet it sort of fell apart came the third stanza. Any opinions or suggestions would be helpful.

    is that::::: a part of being a writer is knowing when to stop.
