Winter's Wrath

by Rolo   Nov 14, 2008

This night's misfortune, tomorrow's despair;
Nothing to blame but this lingering air
The cold hits hard, though I'm not shaking
All is numb as my world is breaking

I lost the battle when I thought I'd won
The demons taunt and will me to run
Screams of silence, the snow falls down
Betraying my trust without a sound

The skies provide an obsession for gloom
An attempt to escape and my fears resume
Hatred deceives in the worst of all ways,
Somber and still in its frost-bitten haze

Nothing can fight the power it wields
Even the leaves are left upon fields
And with its sorrow comes a slippery path
Encrusted with ice and winter's wrath

Reasons are weary, emotions decay
Anxiety longs for this presence to stray
The clock is moving, I beg for its speed
Alone I wait for the change that I need

End.
