A Locket Story [Jane]

by BlueEyedMystery   May 24, 2009

Look inside the locket,
there's a girl, almost seven
holding her mother's rose,
the one she sent from heaven.

Jane, was a quiet girl,
hugged her dad everyday,
but one day Jane decided,
she had to run away.

She had to find heaven,
where her mother was at.
She needed to get to her,
needed to get there fast.

Dad was getting weaker,
the doctor always frowned.
He said dad needed to rest,
and stop messing around.

She ran through the trees.
The mountains were there.
She had to climb to the top,
but she was just a little scared.

Her mom was in the sky.
That's what she'd been told.
Mountains were the highest place.
So that's where she had to go.

Tears streaked her face,
as her legs began to hurt.
Running harder and faster,
until she fell in the dirt.

Gentle arms picked her up,
held onto her tight.
She looked up into the face,
that was glowing with light.

Her mom kissed her cheek,
then whispered love in her ear.
An angel carried her home,
and wiped away all her tears.

When dad got all better,
the doctor smiled again.
The little girl looked up with love,
knew her mom was with her then.

Close the locket, darling.
The story's already been told.
Treasure this memory always.
Hold it close, for it is gold.

I liked this. Wasn't my favorite but still a good poem. It's nice to see you write a rhyming poem. Those are always fun :). I liked that this poem had a story. It wasn't just one experience but more of an overview of someone's life. I like how well it flowed and also how controlled your emotions were. I love the imagery and the different ways you describe Jane. A very lovely piece indeed. I'd like to read more poems like this from you. Nik
