Daddy Where'd You Go?

by Anaisthitos   Oct 5, 2009

Daddy where'd you go?
I woke up and you where gone.
Did I upset you, dad?
Did I do something wrong?

Daddy why don't you come around?
I only see you once in a while.
Why are you always so angry?
Why don't you ever smile?

Daddy, don't you know
I miss you very bad?
Without you I am scared
me and mom are very sad.

Daddy, what happened to you?
Your eyes are red and black.
Why are you walking away?
Daddy please come back.

Daddy, what is wrong?
Tell me why you're crying.
You say everything's fine.
Dad, I know you're lying.

Dad, what is wrong?
Don't you know I love you?
You hurt me really bad
but I found a way to forgive you.

Dad, what happened to you?
You're not who you used to be.
Your laugh is fake and smile's gone.
Dad, do you still love me?

Dad, don't you know
I am not mad at all?
You left, but now you're back
we can stand up from this fall.

Dad, why don't you come around?
I thought that you where staying.
but other things are more important.
our ends are once more, fraying.

Dad, where'd you go?
You left me here again.
I tried so hard this time.
I want to be your friend.

But here I am, all alone.
With just one thing I want to know
the question which will only grow
Daddy, where did you go?

---
I used the transition from "Daddy" to "Dad" to show me growing. The first part of the poem was when I was little and my dad was around less and less. The second part is when I was older and we tried to reconcile but he ended up fading away yet again. Notice the reverse repeat of the first line of the stanzas, used to show how the same thing just happened all over again.
