Birth of a new year

by Meena Krish   Jan 1, 2010

With death soaked eyes
and sleepless nights
an old year sits lonely
wearing a coat of heaviness
as its breath slowly fades,

From the ashes of its tragedy
a new heart beats with hope
nestled in the arms of questions
wondering about the future,

The birth of a new year
arrives into an unsettled world
praying it brings harmony
with a touch of joy so we may
all live in peace

I loved the metaphor, I thought it was amazing & strong. This is a new year & one that many of us need. I wish you all the best in 2010.
