When Friends Go a Stray

by Crippled Wing   Jan 29, 2010

Roses bloom to full beauty, only to wither away
Seemingly like when to friends go a stray
How could something so pure and so bright,
Go so suddenly out of sight?

It's a pain among pains
when you realize what you have lost
a friendship so warm, suddenly covered in frost

In a way it's worst than death,
Because you still see them,
Yet, still alone with each painful breath

There's nights where you ponder to yourself
What you did to make your friend disappear
And you don't dare to ask, because of the answer you fear

You want to forget the past to ease the pain
But it's all in vain.
The memories are engraved on your heart
They will always be with you even when you are apart

Through all the pain you learn one thing
Of what life was meant to bring

Life wasn't meant to be easy...
But what life takes away,
Makes us appreciate what we still have for today
