Pity Brown Pelican

by debbylyn   Jun 27, 2010

Pity brown pelican
Dead in the nest
Mother lies ravaged
Struck in her breast
Life's blood boiling
Black tidal kiss
Skeleton fishing boats
Haunting their slips
Sea turtles rotting
Castles of sand
Padding oil pockets
Look away Dixie Land

Mankind's to thank for this, you definitely were able to get that through to the reader in a pretty startling way, actually. Now I'm frowning :(
    Still, I like this - A well-penned eye-opener

This is such a great piece of work.
You've captured such anger and resentment. Nature is so innocent, and this poem shows how ugly man kind can be.
A beautifully horrific image comes across in every line.

    Well done.

Not much to say here, very well done all around. Deserving of a 5/5 even though its rather short..... you earned it.

The imagery you have painted with your words is heart wrenching. To see everythng being effected from the oil spill breaks my heart. All the wild life and the livlyhood of so many. This will still be effecting things for 100's of years.
    Great piece

    "turles" should be "turtles".

I love this fresh and unique write because not only did the words flow while I read them but out in front of my eyes appeared many images, emotional and thoughtful.

God bless you and Happy Fourth of July!
