You don't have to be strong enough

by Poet on the Piano   Jan 22, 2011

You feel like you are clenching
ten iron nails around your fist,
summoning their pain to end
your misplacement;
these acids don't react with
what you hope to see,
and you are only left guilty
of a past mistake's burden.

Don't you know you are much better
than the sorrows that you've planted?

You've already lost too much light,
I miss it from your eyes,
where have you gone?

You are still here, show me
and let me into your heart,
I will guide you and give you
that grace when you have tripped
over life's empty days and promise.

Here, all I ask is for you to walk
and not turn away from the horizon,
for I will keep you closer, as the sun
cradles the moon, so will I my dear.

You don't have to prove yourself
to me, I'm only listening and waiting,
I need you and will never set you down
on a table of discarded glasses,
you have more to give than satisfaction.

Please trust me, your own wave's birth
is just turning around, there is time
where I open up the hope past equators,
hold out your hand and let us remain
while we fight for survival and light.

Know you don't have to keep facing
this alone, don't you hear your call
being answered in the nightly picture?
