Don't pretend...

by Phoenix   Jan 27, 2011

I understand your disappointment
And your anger at the choices that I've made.
That my past and that my passions
Hit a pain in you that may never fade.

But don't you dare embrace me
With smiles of love that never end.
Don't lead me to believe
If in no other, In you I can depend.

Don't dare you speak my name
Now I'm no longer a woman you seek to please
With your gossip and filthy lies.
In tears, I'm struck down on my knees.

Not once have you ever come to me,
Not once have you sought to see.
You've never once stood strong and true
Like you promised you'd forever do.

Everyone knows your opinion
Everyone knows your version of my past
And of those that I WILL FOREVER hold dear
Everyone "KNOWS" you "KNEW" it could never last.

Your jealousy and your anger
Never sought the feelings of a friend.
But in your guise, have spread such despise
But no more than an apology shall I send.
