Leaving On That Flight

by believeinlove87   Jan 19, 2012

Do you remember our last night together?
Can you still feel my lips lingering on yours?
How much did it hurt you the day we said
goodbye knowing I was flying back home?
Why didn't you stop me? Wasn't telling me to
go destroying you inside?

Let me tell you what I remember,
Sitting on your lap wiping away your falling
tears, You begging me to stay, Pleading with me
to not get on that flight. Vividly in my mind you grabbed
my face saying I don't want to lose you; Please
don't go. Feeling in that moment the true amount of how
much you loved me.

Reliving these in my mind..
Reminiscing about our memories asking myself
" Why did I ever go? How could I leave someone
who cared so deeply? "

Hitting me like a sonic boom, I snap back into reality,
Games, Games, And more games, Remembering like
it was just the other day; You weren't sure,
Back and forth with me every month, Wanting
me to stay, breaking up with me,
It all flying back to why I got on that plane;
Why I couldn't trust you to stay once again.

When you ask yourself what drove us apart,
the answer is your reflection in the mirror,
the moment you pick up your phone to call me,
please don't dial my number, go back to that last
night we spent together and remember,
your the reason we aren't together anymore.

Wow... Powerful words that were so hard to say. Great job and well written; sadness and emotional moments that I could see in my mind playing before my eyes.

    5/5
