My Stranger

by honeybump   Aug 29, 2012

I feel like I've fallen in love with a stranger.
At least, you are not who you'd said you'd be.
You've broken all those promises to me.

What once was beautiful has faded away.
The colors are flushed and have quickly become grey.
The roller-coaster is over,
The book has been closed.
The pathway has ended
But the heart still grows.

Growing fonder of what has been lost,
Striving to find love again, forgetting the cost.
You'll always have a place in my heart,
Regardless if we're together or apart.

Letting go was a challenge, it became an everyday battle.
Until wanting you was an everyday hassle.
But you have given me the strength to see,
What things in life may be better for me.

I've realized it's not worth the struggle,
if you're not willing to fight.
I've become an only soldier taking the pain,
right after the bite.

I have given up,
At least I can say, I've tired.
It's always hard to let go,
But it doesn't have to mean good-bye.
