The Journey of Adolescence

by Let It Be   Dec 14, 2012

Here begins a narrative of how youth struggles through the trails of growing up, and is in the manner of a moral play.
Messenger: I ask you give me your attention and listen closely, with this a moral play. The Journey of Adolescence it is called.
Starring out a large bay window, an innocent girl, Adolescence, ponders long. She has a vision of a new perspective on life as her emotions swirl and change within her heart. Adolescence is changing; it is the eve of her fifteenth birthday. The occurrence of her pondering upon a strange vision is her worry, she fears that as she changes so will her personality. This shaken change is leaving her comfort zone at jeopardy.
Throughout Adolescences school years she has gained a strong friendship with a girl named, Love. They do anything and everything together, spending quality time together, sharing secrets, and watching movies while fawning over a cute guy on the screen.
It was second semester in the spring time. Adolescence had her head down reading a teen romance while in English class. As she raised her head to check the time a boy walked in the classroom. He had blonde hair, blue eyes with a gaze filled with confidence. "He is cute," she thought to herself, "but what is he doing here, I've never seen him around the school." Just then Love leaned over in her seat and whispered, "That's the new boy, his name is Happiness."
Over the next few weeks Adolescence and Happiness flirted, passed notes, and talked on the phone. She was in love falling head over heels for this charming boy. Then one day she opened her library book to find a note it read, "Adolescence, I like you a lot will you be my girlfriend?" She was surprised and happy but she was unsure who it was that put it there. After the bell rang and Adolescence walked from her class, Happiness was in the hall, "Did you get my note," he asked.
The whole school found out fast. Adolescence couldn't stop smiling everyday she was ecstatic to come to school just to see him. Walking back to the restroom while humming a happy tune and day dreaming to herself, she sees Love and Happiness off in a corner by themselves. As she gets closer she notices that the two are kissing, deeply. In a fit of shock and hurt Adolescence runs to the restroom.
In the corner dyeing of sadness, sits Adolescence, her heart broken frayed by the cut of friendship. When a girl walks in, she was wearing all black, short hair and dark makeup. She was absolutely stunning like a dark angel. "My name is Loneliness; you look like you need some comfort?" Adolescence sobs harder. Loneliness sits down beside Adolescence. "Everything will be ok you are your own strength you alone against the world."
As Adolescence sat back in her seat in the class, she noticed a boy that she never paid attention to before was leaning out of his seat. Adolescence couldn't help but giggle as he hit the floor. The way he looked his dark hair disheveled, and as their eyes met he held her gaze, he had light silver eyes. When Adolescence looked from his gaze she noticed his scars on his forearm and felt instantly sad. "Mysterious and beautiful she thought," instantly remembering the scene that broke her heart, her mood became fallen.
After school as Adolescence was walking home from school, Depression meet up with her and asked if she wanted to hang out. He took her to the park and showed her a homeless man. As Adolescence saw him a man came up and stabbed him and took the few dollars the homeless man had. Adolescence asked Depression, "What is the purpose of this?", "To show you that you're not alone, that the world is full of darkness. Trust no one it will always backfire." Depression looks deep into Adolescences eyes to the core of her innocence and moves in slowly to kiss her long and passionately. When he released her from the hold of sadness, Adolescence felt ice creep into her heart and the slow growing of the shattering of her heart, in an instant it burst and killed Adolescence. She fell slowly to the ground as the life ebbed out of her she laid on the ground, her lifeless body limp and cold.
Then the shadows parted and Kindness approaches the dreary scene. Depression looked at his opposite, dressed in a simple white dress, long brown hair, and calming green eyes, she the embodiment of life. For but a single moment the two stand in silence as if the world stopped. Kindness looks down at the now lifeless body of Adolescence and a look of burden poisoned her beautiful features. Then kindness spoke with words soft but firm with wisdom, each word capable of breaking the strongest heart with a tide of emotions. "If only I was there from the beginning I could've saved her life and innocence from you, depression, the vilest creature alive." Then Depression spoke up with words shaking his very core, " I truly cared for her, I never meant to harm my dear Adolescence."
