The imperfect girl

by Alanis   Dec 15, 2012

The beauty of a rose, the innocence of a child
Yet, envy grows, a life divides. Her tears
Soak her pillow, her screams remain unheard.
Her curves to big, self-confidence refined.
Gulp a drink, no memory remains, an untanned
Figure remains unscathed. Unwanted by men
Unseen by woman, a thirst grows, starvation
Begins. She feeds on self pity and her own
Depression, mockery grows stronger she
Starts to get thin. A mirror is smashed,
Her hair died black, slits on her wrist
Prove crimson red. Her hair not long enough
Her teeth too skew, her friends provide
Cheerleaders for her death by slew,
She remains in shadows her voice unheard
This is what happened to the imperfect girl.

Okay, here's my thoughts on this.

I'm not much on Dark Poetry, and I honestly think this one belongs under the Sad: depression category, but it was good. It shows what most girls go through because of what the media sees as beautiful, when in reality, all women are beautiful.

Suggestion: this reads like a long paragraph, I'd tryy putting it into stanza's by two or three lines.

    Overall:
this was a good read, I enjoyed it.
