Oh Hannah I did miss your writing!! :)

I tried to divorce them
but words whittled themselves
onto the thinly sliced parchment
and my heart poured from
the bottled of wine christened poetry.

- now what better way to grab a readers attention, than to shout out to the writer in them and describe where poetry can come from. I think we can all relate to this type of poetry, the ones that are filled with pain and are a way of releasing those emotions stored deep down. Description is amazing as always, you never lose that touch of your wording, it flows so well and sounds so unique and fresh. I also love the idea of divorcing them, wow, if only we really could divorce our emotions, or thoughts, or words!

They intoxicated and consumed
the demure side of me,
allowing flowers to flourish
inside a thunder struck tree.

this is such a powerful image, and again the idea is so unique. The idea of a flower, something so beautiful and innocent, being stuck inside a tree that you know it won't ever grow in. You add such a variety of elements in this poem that you would never think to join together but you pulled it off flawlessly.

At some point
I may need an intervention,
but for now I'm completely
content with stalking syllables
and befriending metaphors
for the sake of sanity.

- Great way to end, sometimes we get caught up in the words we write, and they lead us back to things we want to forget, but something inside of us needs that way to release. To keep sane. I suppose it comes across here like an addiction.

I have also missed your writing Hannah. This is a great way to start out. Such a way with you used your words here. Anyway. The first thing that caught my eye in the first stanza was the use of wine. I love how you seem to say that you are drunk with or on your words. I think as a poet we have to use our words to truly describe our feelings. It really can be intoxicating at times because we have to get everything out. The divorce line made me smile. As we are married to our words and we cannot seem to ever get away from them lol.

I loved the imagery in the second stanza because what you describe I think is Intoxicating beautiful of nature yet you say it about words. I think what you mean is.. in nature we are inspired to write about anything because our muse is all around. Spring time is also very intoxicating and we always feel the way about writing too. The last stanza truly wraps up the poem well. Writing really is an addiction and we are okay with it because it is in our blood. The wording you used again is just beautiful and leaves me speechless. The metaphors work so well as the flow is spot on. Great poets write haha.

WOW Hannah, I love this piece.
I love the title, first off, it's just silently captivating, because it's so intriguing and then when you actually read the poem,
There is just a whole new dynamic to the piece.

I haven't had the passion to write for a while and slowly I am easing back into my poetry writing. I am glad to read this from you, it is clever and well penned.
